
Chaplain (CPT) LaTisa A. Steele
Supervisor-in-Training
Chaplain Captain LaTisa A. Steele is a Chaplain assigned to the Chaplain
Corps at the 165 th Airlift Wing, Savannah International Airport, Georgia. She is
tasked with the spiritual care of the members of the 165 Airlift Wing (AW). Her
primary duties include pastoral counseling, spiritual resiliency, and leadership
advisement, being part of the Religious Support Team (RST) consisting of the
Chaplain and Chaplain Assistant. She is also responsible for the music ministry
for Protestant and Catholic Worship Service.
Upon graduation from high school, Chaplain Steele attended Georgia Southern
University in 1988, enlisting in the Air Force in January 1990. She completed
basic military training and technical school June – August 1990. Prior to
commissioning, Chaplain Steele served as Chaplain Assistant at the 165 th Airlift
Wing, assisting Chaplains as a part of the Religious Support Team (RST) to the
165 th Airlift Wing and the members of supporting local units. As Chaplain
Assistant, Ch Steele was selected in 2018 to deploy as part of RST to Niger in
support of short-term needs of active Air Force.
Though Chaplain Steele separated from service in January 1998 due to family
responsibilities, she re-enlisted after an extended break with a renewed sense
of service in February 2014. After receiving her call to ministry, Chaplain Steele
earned the Master of Divinity degree in August 2016. In October 2021, Chaplain Steele enrolled in the Institute for
Clinical Pastoral Training where she is pursuing board certification. Ch Steele is endorsed with the National Baptist
Convention, USA and currently serves as associate minister at Richmond Baptist Church in Port Wentworth, Georgia.
